Diode Laser Module – Lumics’ Fiber Patchcords
Fiber patchcords are an essential component of fiber-coupled laser modules. Their design depends on the laser module, particularly the output power, the emitter size of the integrated emitters, and the fiber core diameter required by the application.
Lumics offers high quality and reliable fiber optic multimode patch cables for all its LuOcean diode laser modules. These fibers are integrated in a robust metal tube and a yellow PVC jacket and are strain relieved.
For low to moderate power levels, fibers can typically be glue-fixed to the connector. For higher power lasers, recommended fibers will be free-standing within the fiber connector. In some cases, cooling of the fiber connector via forced air cooling or water cooling is required to maintain a low temperature and prevent fiber damage. For some wavelengths back reflections of laser light on the fiber end facet can damage the laser diodes. To prevent this, the fibers can be equipped with an AR coated fiber end cap.
