Our History

Lumics was founded in 2000 by three German physicists in Berlin in the midst of the fiber optic telecommunication boom. The initial idea was to develop and produce state-of-the-art diode lasers used as pumps for Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, and the company was set up with an own chip production fab right away from the start.

Soon it became obvious that Lumics had the potential for much more. The company started to grow the product portfolio, to significantly expand the wavelength range capabilities, to add multi-mode laser diodes, and later multi-emitter packages and proprietary accessories to the portfolio.

Now after more than 25 years in business Lumics has successfully grown into a worldwide recognized leader for high quality diode laser solutions in many different industries and for numerous applications.
